Come join us
26 miles across the sea on The Island of Romance to celebrate the wedding of Kyra and Scott

Sunday, November 16, 2003 at 1:00 P.M.

Avalon Community Church, Catalina Island, Avalon, CA
The Plan
Instead of the traditional Bachelor and Bachelorette parties, we would like to invite everyone to
join us for a little fun Friday evening. There isn't a plan set in stone, but the idea is to check out the night life and celebrate the union of our families and friends. Saturday, November 15, we will do a little sightseeing. You're welcome to join us, or be on your own. (The Island has many wonderful activities available.) Come spend the weekend with us!

What's There To Do On Catalina?

Catalina is an ideal destination to enjoy outdoor activities such as swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, hiking, and golfing. You may also enjoy horseback riding, sightseeing, scuba diving, or visiting a day spa. The weather in November could be 55 or 65 degrees, so you probably won't enjoy the ocean temperatures, but there are still plenty of things to do. For more information, visit Catalina's Chamber of Commerce web site at www.catalina.com or call them at 310-510-1520.

Accommodations
Due to the off-season rates, it was not possible to block a set of rooms at one hotel. Therefore, you will be responsible for arranging your own room, should you decide to stay on the island. I have enclosed a list of accommodations. For more information, visit Catalina's Chamber of Commerce at www.catalina.com or call 310-510-1520. You may request the Visitor's Guide at no cost (however, they do ask for a donation).

If you prefer to join us only for the ceremony and reception, you may make other arrangements in Los Angeles, San Diego, Long Beach, Hollywood, Anaheim, or wherever! Remember, this is Southern California. You won't be lacking in entertainment. Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Universal Studios, Hollywood (Hollywood Boulevard, Sunset Strip¦), J. Paul Getty Center, La Brea Tar Pits, Griffith Park, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles Zoo, and Venice Beach Boardwalk are just a few of the things you can do and see.

What If We Have To Fly?
You can fly into either LAX or Orange County (John Wayne). Both airports are approximately 30 minutes from Long Beach and San Pedro. Both airports are served by most airlines and car rental agencies. The Karmel Shuttle can take you from either airport, directly to the Catalina boat terminal that best fits your needs, with fees starting as low as per person. For more information, visit their web site at www.karmel.com/catalina.html or call 1-888-995-7433.

How do we get to Catalina Island?
Catalina Island is located 22 miles off the coast of Southern California, so the only way to get there is by boat or helicopter. There are four boat companies that service Catalina Island with daily departures from Long Beach and San Pedro, with tickets from to round trip for adults. Travel time is one to one and a half hours. If you want to get there even faster, you may take one of six passenger helicopters to arrive on the island in 15 minutes. Cost ranges from for one way, to round trip plus tax.
